Shift App Privacy Policy

Effective date: 7 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Shift app ("Shift", "the app") handles your data, on iOS and Android. It applies to the app published by NOBRAINROT®. Our website and store are covered by a separate store privacy policy.

The short version

  • We collect your email address and your Shift usage stats (sessions, time shifted, modes, streaks) so the app works across devices and so we can improve it.
  • On iOS, your detailed screen time data is processed by Apple's Screen Time system on your device — we never receive it. The apps you choose to block on iOS are stored as hashed tokens that even we cannot read.
  • No ads. No selling your data. No data brokers. Ever.
  • Payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.

1. Who we are

The data controller is Wojciech Filipowicz, Kraków, Poland, NIP: 6772475901 ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@nobrainrot.com.

2. Data we collect

Account data

When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address. We use it to identify your account, sync your subscription, and contact you about your account when necessary.

Shift session data

We collect statistics about how you use Shift:

  • time spent in shift sessions, overall and per focus mode,
  • your streak,
  • general session statistics (session counts, durations, completions),
  • your subscription plan.

We use this to power your stats and streak features, understand how Shift is used, and improve the app.

Apps you choose to block

  • iOS: when you select apps for a focus mode, Apple provides them to Shift as opaque, hashed tokens. We cannot see which apps you selected — the tokens are unreadable to us by design.
  • Android: we process the identifiers of the apps you select for your focus modes so we can block them.

Installed apps (Android only)

On Android, Shift reads the list of applications installed on your device. This is required for one purpose: showing you your apps so you can choose which ones to block. We are aware that a list of installed apps can be sensitive, and we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than the blocking feature.

Screen time (iOS)

Screen time tracking on iOS uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks. That data is processed on your device under Apple's rules and is not transmitted to us.

Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your payment details. To verify and manage your subscription, we use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA) as a processor. RevenueCat receives your app user ID, your subscription plan, and your transaction history. It does not receive your email address.

Crash and error data

We use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA) to collect error logs and crash reports so we can fix bugs. These logs include technical application data and your user ID.

Support

If you email us, we process your email address and the contents of your message in order to reply.

3. What we don't do

  • We do not show ads and do not use your data for advertising.
  • We do not sell or share your personal data with data brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Analytics

We use Google Firebase and Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) to process the account and session data described above and to understand how the app is used — which features are popular, where people get stuck, and whether changes we ship actually help. Google processes this data on our behalf. Advertising features are disabled.

5. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1(b) GDPR) — providing your account, syncing your stats and streaks, delivering and verifying your subscription, blocking the apps you selected, and responding to support requests.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6.1(f) GDPR) — fixing crashes and errors, preventing fraud and abuse of subscriptions, and analyzing aggregate usage to improve the app. You can object at any time (see Your rights).
  • Consent (Art. 6.1(a) GDPR) — where required by applicable law for analytics. Where consent applies, you can withdraw it at any time in the app's settings.

6. Who receives your data

We share personal data only with processors who help us run Shift, under data processing agreements:

  • Google (Firebase, Google Analytics) — analytics and app infrastructure.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription verification and management.
  • Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — crash and error reporting.
  • Apple Inc. and Google LLC — payment processing and app distribution, under their own privacy policies.

We do not share your data with anyone else, unless required by law.

7. International transfers

Google, RevenueCat, and Sentry process data in the United States. These transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

8. How long we keep data

  • Account and session data: for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete it, except where the law requires us to keep records (e.g. transaction records for tax purposes).
  • Crash logs (Sentry): up to 90 days.
  • Support emails: up to 24 months after the issue is resolved.

9. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can delete your account directly in the app, or email hello@nobrainrot.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or your local authority.

If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. You have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information we hold about you.

10. Children

Shift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on our website.
